Encourage me and I will not forget you.
"Once a person is determined to help themselves, there is nothing that can stop them." - Nelson Mandela
Struggling with low mood, anxious feelings, relationships, family, career, or adjusting to change or challenges? Psychotherapy, or "talk therapy," may help you overcome problems, feel more confident, and develop a sense of contentment and well-being.
The "talking cure" is an ancient remedy, but today's therapy is based on a strengths-based understanding of human psychology, the influence of culture and environment, and modern knowledge of human biology.

About Psychotherapy
In therapy, I will encourage you to work from your strengths to achieve your goals. No matter what concerns you bring to therapy, you can expect steady, accepting, warm support from me in your sessions.
What really happens in therapy? In each session, you describe your situation, how you feel about it, what you have tried so far, and what goals you have. I work hard to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to do your work. I will encourage you to be your authentic self and explore what that is like for you. The things you talk about are confidential, unless you express intent to hurt yourself or someone else. Read the Psychology Today article linked in the picture above for more information on what therapy is like. I may refer you for additional services or suggest things you can work on between sessions.
About telemedicine psychotherapy
You may have received information from your health plan about telemedicine, the ability to see doctors, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists like me using a mobile app or computer. I work exclusively in telemedicine with Amwell powered, HIPAA compliant technology. As part of the Amwell Medical Group, I offer the same standard of care you find in brick and mortar settings. Telemedicine makes seeing me and my colleagues more convenient.
Now that you know a little more about what happens in therapy, you may be ready to schedule your first appointment. Don't worry if you feel nervous. It's perfectly normal, and my job is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and in control of your goals and your work.
